Flaunt My Font
Software: Illustrator | Date: April 14, 2022 | Course: GCM806: Advanced Typography
I created my own display font and named it "Strike". I based my typeface off of Myriad Pro's Bold typeface that gave the perfect outline and making subtle changes in the way I designed it. My font was named for its tape like features crossing over letter boundaries. It also represents deliberately going over the lines to give that striking characteristic of each letter. I wanted to create a font that wasn’t perfect but just enough that they fit together with a hint of uniqueness. In the beginning I decided I wanted my font to look like they are overlapping in a way that looks good and that is exactly what I did with the “Strike” font. This font would be best used for indie brands, festival campaigns, as well as anywhere that you feel that edgy vibe. (I created my poster and font characters using Adobe Illustrator).
