Through the past few day, I've enjoyed the joys of making new food and experimenting with recipes to call my own. By utilizing various spices, to sweet household staples, and random fridge ingredients, I've created the best tasting chicken I've made thus far. Though this may be my first time making it, this definitely wont be my last! This chicken bake had been something I've wanted to make for quite some time now and I didn't want just any bake, I wanted a sweet, juicy, and crispy chicken bake. It took quite a while for me to find a recipe good enough to use and since I was very picky, I had decided to make my own by using certain ingredients from various recipes and crafting up my own depending on my taste. So lo and behold...I finally found a recipe that finally suits me! With that being said, I hope you guys can recreate and enjoy my recipe below and let me know what you think. Sweet Chicken Bake
Yields: 4-6 servings Prep: 5 - 10mins Cook time: 45mins - 1hr Total: 50mins - 1hr
INGREDIENTS:
4 - 6 Chicken thighs (bone in with skin)
1 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp Onion powder
2 tsp Paprika powder
1 1/2 tsp Lemon pepper
1/4 tsp Ground cumin
1 1/2 tbsp Light brown sugar
1 tsp Dried Thyme leaves
1 tbsp melted butter OR Neutral Oil (Vegetable/ Canola/ Sunflower/ etc.)
1 - 2 tsp of Salt
DIRECTIONS:
Cut and clean the chicken well from any extra fat, feathers, and any other gunk that might be on your chicken and place in a baking dish or tray.
In a separate bowl mix Garlic powder, Onion powder, Paprika powder, Lemon pepper seasoning, Ground cumin, Light brown sugar, Dried Thyme leaves and Salt until thoroughly mixed together.
Massage room temperature Butter or any Neutral Oil onto the chicken to ensure it becomes crispy golden.
Coat each chicken evenly (even under the skin) to ensure you have evenly distributed your seasoning before rubbing it into the chicken further.
Place the chicken skin-side down on your baking dish / tray so they end up skin-side up once done.
Pre-heat your oven to 400° Degrees for 45mins - 1hr. Depending on how big your chicken pieces are they may need to cook for longer. (Make sure to flip them after 25 - 30mins so that they cook evenly on both sides.
Lastly, Broil your chicken on high (Hi) heat for about 2 - 5mins so you've got some crispy, crunchy skin until its brown and parts of it chars and bubbles. Make sure you keep a close eye on it!
OPTIONAL: Let it rest for about 10 mins after taking it out of the oven. It tastes way better if you let your chicken bake soak in all the juices in while resting.
Plate with some yummy salad, make a shawarma, or even enjoy with some of your favourite veggies and mashed potatoes and ENJOY!
